Summer always sneaks up on us, and if you live somewhere where the weather is unpredictable, you might not know when the season will start. The last thing you want is to not be ready when the perfect day comes. Especially, when it's the first after a loooong winter.
That's why we recommend preparing ahead of time.
Today, we want to talk about the essentials you need before your first day out on your PWC.
First and foremost, being a PFD or Life Jacket. Comfort and the correct sizing are the two most important things you need when purchasing your PFD. Did you know there are certain styles for certain riders depending on how they ride? Just like there are different types of models. For example: some are more focused on breathability, and some are more focused on comfort. It's also important to point out that if you find yourself having guests on your Sea-Doo, make sure you have a variety of sizes on board or around your house. Spreading the Sea-Doo life to newbies is one of our favorite parts, but you can't do that if you don't have extra protection! Check out our blog post Keep The Fun Afloat to learn more about the different styles and features.

Secondly, a cooler. What's neat about a having a cooler on hand is it doubles as storage! With that being said, you can pack all you need for a day out fishing (bait), a day with the family (food/water), or just extra gear! Coolers aren't really a need, more of a want. However, they do make for a better experience! You can choose one that connects to your LinQ system (recommended) or a free style one.
Next is a fuel caddy of some sort. It's always more convenient to have the ability to fill up whenever you need instead of finding the nearest station or remembering to fill up before and after every ride! Also, the last thing you want is to be stranded with no gas. It's always a good safety precaution to have extra fuel on board. The LinQ System allows you to stack multiple fuel caddies or even other storage options to help maximize space!
Fourthly, a lot of people's favorite and must-have a dry bag. With technology now a days, you need a compartment to store your phone, watch, or even camera equipment. It's also a great place to keep your wallet. Have no worry about anything getting damaged during the course of your day! Again, there's a LinQ option with a little more storage or a free styled one that could fit in your glovebox!
And last, maybe most-obvious is SUN PROTECTION. We've all been there. We're in the sun all day, feeling good. Then someone next to us says, "HOLY COW YOU'RE RED." Maybe and only maybe you then put sunscreen, a protective shirt, or sunglasses on. Best case scenario at this point - you blister a little, and it heals in a week. Make sure you have sunscreen on and reapply it throughout the day. Protecting your eyes and face are most important! If you are more prone to sun than some, maybe a long sleeve rash guard is what you need.

It's not enough to make sure you have all these things every season. You also need to check if they are in condition to operate correctly. Before every season, do a little check with all of your watercraft gear. For example: make sure there are no holes in the dry bag, you have enough life jackets for you and guests, all your LinQ brackets are there... etc.
It's easy to put things away at the end of the season and think you'll remember to replace them before the start of the next, so always check.
Now, hopefully you're all set or know what to do to get ready for the season.
As always, have fun & ride safely!
